ROYSTON Golf Club Ladies held their traditional January Luncheon fixture recently with a 12-hole competition before being joined for lunch by their guests, who included Audrey Varney, a past Lady Captain who joined Royston Golf Club in 1945.

In the bright but cold weather there were some good scores in the stableford-format, with Sandra Williams winning the Silver Division while Tina Collins was runner-up. Sheila Wood won the Bronze Division ahead of Evelyn Fenton.

Other prizes presented on the day included the Macmillian Spoon, won by Jenny Jarvis. The Eclectic prize winners were Sandra Williams, Libby Toby, Marjory Humphreys and Gill Doughton. And the Most Improved Golfer Trophy for 2011 was won by Claire Beaumont.

The Ladies’ Stableford (combined midweek and weekend competition) was played recently. Helen Steverson won the Bronze Division with an excellent 38 points resulting in a two-shot cut to her handicap while Claire Beaumont finished second with 35 points. Libby Toby won the Silver Division with 27 points ahead of Jenny Jarvis (25).
