HEYDON Grange Golf Club Venerables embarked on their annual three-day UK tour to Thorpeness Golf Club last week.

The fine weather helped the competitors better negotiate what is a notoriously tough James Braid-designed course.

The three days of play saw competition for both the Bill Cook Memorial Trophy, played on the second day, and the Brothwell Trophy for the best two scores over the three days.

Colin Edge won the Bill Cook Memorial Trophy with 33 points while the overall competition winner and collector of the Brothwell Trophy was Alan Parkes with 67 points.

David Baker (64) was runner-up while Kit Barker (63) was third.

Actress Morwenna Banks (among other television roles, the voice of Mummy Pig in Peppa Pig) and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire presenter Jeremy Sallis both added glamour to this year’s fashion show for Addenbrooke’s Hospital’s Breast Cancer Appeal. Morwenna described how cancer had affected members of her family. Jeremy took part in a Men in Black routine.
