THE Pair of Pete Tidey and Alan Evans produced a stunning display on the back nine to win the Sunday Fourball competition at Royston Golf Club at the weekend.

The duo played a steady front nine with 18 points but with the aid of a birdie on the 10th followed by pars on six of the last seven holes they romped home ahead of Mark Stier and Jim Evans (40 points) and third placed Trevor Deards and Robin Coles (39 points).

In joint fourth place were four pairs, including Chris Little and Steve Rogers, John Ellis and Stewart Hart, Nigel Thomas and Ian Dell and Geoff Truran and Terry Bonnett – all on 38 points.

Elsewhere, the Junior Medal was played on Saturday, the winner was Alexander Brain with an excellent 35 points off his 16 handicap followed closely by Luke Bailey, Ryan Sharp, Robbie Norman, Robert Brain and Lyle Clark.

In the Ladies Thursday Medal, Jane Millership came home first with a net 72 off her 18 handicap, closely followed by Kathleen Caunce, Elizabeth Toby, Valerie Squires, Jennifer Thompson, Lynn Barker and Alice Lewis.

In the Men’s Saturday Medal, Raymond Salmon beat Trevor Sweeting on countback, both with net 72 scores with Adrian Shoebridge in third place with net 73.

Meanwhile, Royston Golf Club is looking to trace the owner of a valuable ring that was found on the course recently. It is a ladies’ ring that could have possibly been lost during the recent snow fall.

If anyone believes it to belong to them, please contact the golf club or go to Royston Police Station.
