Steve Castle, speaking after his side’s 6-0 Red Insure Cup victory against Aylesbury, was full of praise for his in-form team.

A hat-trick from Kaan Fehmi, plus goals from Craig Hammond, Robbie Mason and debutant Reece Dobson saw The Crows ease into the quarter-final of the competition, where they will travel to take on St Neots Town next Tuesday (February 11).

“I am really, really pleased with what I saw out there, and it was a fantastic result,” said Castle.

“Since I came into the job, there are a couple of things I really wanted to implement; one was play with a very high tempo, and the other was to make sure we give the opposition least time on the ball as possible.

“We played a game against a Stevenage youth team on Saturday, and won 7-1, and so we thought, if we can do it there, there’s no reason why we can’t continue with it.

“And we did just that against Aylesbury, it was very pleasing.”

It’s back to the Calor League Division One Central on Saturday for Royston, when they travel to take on Rugby Town.

The Warwickshire outfit, like Royston, are up there challenging in the league, finding themselves in second spot.

Castle added: “They can score goals so we have got to ensure we are tight at the back, but at the same time being fluent in attack.

“We’ll definitely be looking for a result there.”
