Royston and Welwyn first played against each other in a friendly match last year prior to their entry in to the league where Royston won by an impressive 54-0 and Sunday delivered another stormer of a match.

Sunday saw the ladies put in a real team effort with excellent use of all players on the pitch with some skilled ball handling seeing the ball carried all the way along the line as well as a killer defensive line.

Royston are now sitting at the top of the NCE3 league table on score difference although some teams are yet to play all of their matches.

Royston Ladies will now play friendlies to close out the year before the next league match against local rivals Bishops Stortford hosted at the Heath on January 14.

The match was also a triumph for captain Ben Ritsema who grabbed four tries – to go along with a superb first team debut for their under 15’s coach Stuart Habergham.

*The club are now taking orders for their new Royston Rugby Club Golf Umbrellas.

The first batch are arriving next week and selling fast at £20 each. If they sell out they will get another order in for Christmas so move quickly if you want one.
