Sports fans can apply for tickets online from today (September 9) until 6pm on September 26.

Approximately two million tickets will go on sale to the public between now and Games time, with 1.5 million being available in this first phase.

A third of tickets are priced at £5, half of tickets priced at £10 or less and three quarters of tickets are £20 or less.

As with Olympic Games tickets, the system is not first come, first served and there is no advantage to applying earlier in the process.

Tickets for oversubscribed sessions will be allocated via a ballot and payment will be taken by October 31 with notification of whether applications have been successful sent by November 18.

Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), said: “The Paralympic Games are coming home in 2012 and I’m confident that the whole country will get behind them.

“People will have the chance to see sport like never before, with world class athletes who challenge the notion of ‘disability’; it’s a huge opportunity for Paralympic sport to become part of the nation’s consciousness and finally, it will be a moment of extraordinary pride.”

Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee, added: “These Games are an opportunity to drive societal change and create a legacy for this country that was first started in 1948 at Stoke Mandeville.”

International Paralympic Day took place at London’s Trafalgar Square yesterday (Thursday), it gave members of the public a whole day of Paralympic activity, Paralympic sport demonstrations and the chance to meet international and GB athletes including Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius and GB swimmer Ellie Simmonds.

The day also saw Prime Minister David Cameron play tennis against London Mayor Boris Johnson, Mr Cameron paired up with Paralympian tennis ace Josh Steels, but was beaten by the Mayor who partnered John Parfitt.
