MELBOURN Open Triple Bowls tournament has a new sponsor.

Local family owned funeral directors Cecil Newling of Royston have agreed to sponsor the popular one day open knockout tournament which will be held at Melbourn Bowls Club on Sunday August 30.

The club is also holding a free open day from 2pm on Sunday April 26 where anyone who is interested in becoming a member or would like to try their hand at bowls can come along and give it a go.

Explaining their sponsorship of local bowls tournaments, Cecil Newling manager Nigel Anthony said: "As a local family owned funeral directors serving local communities for over several generations we believe it is important that we play our part in supporting and helping to finance local events such as these very popular bowls tournaments.
