LAPSES in concentration cost Royston dearly.

The visitors took the lead with a try under the posts. The conversion attempt hit the bar and bounced over.

For the rest of the half Royston dominated and managed to unleash their dangerous backs with Ben and Daniel Ritsema, man-of-the-match, Joe Hillman, and Stuart Goldfinch looking threatening.

After 25 minutes Hillman and Goldfinch combined well, and George Elbourn stole the ball out of a maul and dived over.

Royston took the lead when Oakman went blind from a ruck and with the support of Goldfinch was driven over for another unconverted try.

Five minutes from time the Royston backs unwisely tried to run the ball from their own line, and the Barnet left winger reached the loose ball behind the line first for another try.

Royston's Oakman pushed forward with a series of intelligent kicks.

But despite two excellent line-out takes by Martin Goddard, Royston were unable to capitalise, and when Goldfinch was tackled five yards from the line, the final whistle blew.
