WELWYN Garden City sprinter Jodie Williams is “very happy” to have been named in the Great Britain squad for the World Indoor Athletics Championships in March.

The Herts Phoenix ace will compete in the 60m at the event in Istanbul, Turkey.

Speaking on Twitter about her inclusion, alongside the 39-strong squad which also includes Mo Farah, Dwain Chambers and Jessica Ennis, Williams said: “Very happy to have been selected for World Indoors!”

GB head coach Charles van Commenee said of the squad: “This is a strong team, one that can realistically challenge for medals and make finals.”

Speaking of younger members of the squad, such as Williams, he added: “There are some good athletes coming through.

“I am looking forward to seeing how they perform on the senior international stage.”
