A KRIS Watters hat-trick and a brace from Jason Gray helped Melbourn extend their run to five unbeaten games in this comfortable victory over struggling Balsham.

Watters opened the scoring after seven minutes, racing onto a long, high through pass and nodding the ball past the advancing keeper.

Moments later, Gray grabbed his first, with his curled free kick deceiving the Balsham wall, and leaving the visiting keeper stranded.

Soon after, Watters scored his second and Melbourn's third, with a simple finish after some excellent build up play from Steve Marriott.

Defender Stuart Collen did well to keep the Balsham attack at bay with a great goalline clearance, before keeper Mick Walker and Gray combined to thwart another clear chance.

On the hour, Watters completed his hat-trick, intercepting a Balsham back pass, and after his initial shot was blocked, he coolly slotted home the rebound.

Ten minutes later, Gray and Michael Wagstaff combined to set up Steve Marriott for number five, before Gray completed the rout and Melbourn's impressive performance with a powerful strike.

Melbourn: Walker; Patman, Bryan, Collen, Carse; Ridden, Wagstaff, Gray, Frances; Watters, Marriott. (Subs): Reynolds, Birchenough, Wilkins.
