ROYSTON Town boss Paul Attfield is determined to treat Saturday’s mouthwatering clash at home to Rugby Town as any other league game.
The clash at Garden Walk pits third-placed Royston against the team directly above them, and on the same number of points (57) in Evo-Stik Southern Central division.
The top end of the table is extremely tight with only three points separating fifth-placed Biggleswade Town with leader Godalming Town.
But Crows boss Attfield is philosophical about Saturday’s clash, with a long way still to go in the 2012/13 season.
“The game comes at a good time for us in terms of how the squad is shaping up, and if we can adopt the same form and work ethic as recent games we will be very difficult to beat,” Attfield told The Crow.
“But I don’t think you can build it up as bigger than any other league game.
“If we win it puts us in a better position for sure, but we have been up at the top end of the league all season, so it’s all about maintaining that consistency.”
Attfield goes into the game with no new injury concerns, and welcomes back striker Matt Standen following suspension.
But he is well aware of the threat Rugby will pose.
“They will be a strong and organised outfit, and they have one of the league’s top-scorers in [David] Kolodynski, so he will prove a handful,” he added.
“But we shouldn’t fear anyone - we have the best home record in the division with only one defeat in 14 and we can go and continue that form.”
Royston defeated Uxbridge 2-0 away from home on Saturday, a win that left Attfield in good spirits.
“I think Uxbridge’s position [12th] in the league is a bit of a false one to be honest, they were many people’s tips for promotion this year,” said the Crows manager.
“But we got off to the best possible start with two early goals, and in the end it was a very-well deserved victory for us.”
Next Tuesday Royston are in action in the Herts Senior Cup semi-final when they travel to take on Potters Bar Town, 7.45pm kick-off.
