Under-10s League Trophy

THIS was a comfortable victory for Knebworth on a sticky surface not conducive to free flowing football.

Despite the conditions, Knebworth tried to play to feet and create chances and they were rewarded when Joshua Allen struck home midway through the first half.

Travis Hambleton, playing in an unfamiliar position on the left, showed his versatility by connecting well with his weaker left foot to smash the ball home for 2-0 before the break.

Shefford battled bravely and their 'keeper made two good saves to keep the score down and at the other end Callum Cook dived bravely at the feet of two Saints' attackers to smother the ball.

In the second half, striker Mitchell Rogers then got across his opponent and raced into the box to slot home a third goal before an unfortunate own goal from an attempted clearance rounded off the scoring at 4-0 to Knebworth.

It was a good team performance with everybody playing their part and skipper Harry Isherwood inspiring his team by competing solidly in the centre of midfield against much bigger opponents.

The Cheetahs are now starting to believe that they could go a long way in this League Trophy competition.
