It would be right to pass on the underpass

I would like to register my complete agreement with K Cooper's comments about the railway crossing (Crow, October 16).

At a time when the town's infrastructure is in need of so much improvement and attention in areas that can benefit the majority of residents, why is all this expenditure being committed to a problem that's already been taken care of?

But, there's another potential problem that will need to be addressed if this scheme goes ahead.

Anyone who has lived or worked in urban areas where underpasses abound will know that they are a magnet for graffiti and anti-social behaviour.

At night and at very quiet times they can be threatening places, particularly for a mother with a small child, or the elderly.

We are lucky that Royston does not have major problems, but we are not completely free of them, and an unnecessary underpass in a quiet area is going to cause problems.
