A WOMAN has spoken of how a man climbed onto her £170,000 sports car and jumped up and down on it as a mob of 75 people cheered him on.
Barley resident Samantha Mawditt had parked her Lamborghini Spyder Gallardo in Fish Hill Square, Royston, at 11.30pm on Friday night when the attack occurred.
She said: “My daughter works at SG8 nightclub and needed to collect something from there. I wouldn’t usually take the car into Royston but we were on our way back from Stevenage and I thought it wouldn’t take long.
“While I was waiting in the car I heard this chanting and clapping starting, and the next thing I knew a man had climbed onto the back of the car and was jumping up and down.
“There must have been 75 people standing around cheering him on, laughing, and filming it on their phones. It was frightening, there was nothing I could do because I didn’t dare get out of my car because there were so many of them.”
The man eventually climbed down and ran off with a group of friends.
Miss Mawditt is waiting to discover the extent of the damage to her car, but fears the bill could run into thousands of pounds if the suspension is broken.
She is offering a reward for anyone with information that leads to the offender being caught.
“The cost of the damage isn’t really the point here,” she said.
“People work hard to get their cars, whether it’s a Lamborghini or a Ford Fiesta, and they shouldn’t have to put up with this kind of thing.
“I just want the person responsible to be caught so they can understand that this isn’t acceptable behaviour.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
