Villages in Crow country are among those benefiting from the council’s rural grant scheme.

The North Herts District Council (NHDC) Rural Grants Fund has distributed £41,339 to projects which will enhance amenities for communities in the district. Each project has been assessed and awarded a varying amount ranging from £250 to a maximum of £3,000, depending on the size and scope of the project.

Those to benefit include Ashwell Parish Council, which has received £1,000 for general environmental improvements in the village. Sandon Parish Council is receiving £2,000 to improve its village playground and £3,000 for the hall, while an upgrade to Reed village hall will be funded by a £3,000 award.

Royston councillor Tony Hunter is the district council’s portfolio holder for community engagement.

He said: “All of the projects that have received funding from NHDC’s Rural Grants Fund will contribute to the well being and quality of life for those who live in the rural community. We are looking forward to seeing the end results.”

Communities can apply for grants between £250-£3,000 from the scheme, depending on the size and scope of the project. The next funding window will open in the summer.
