THE driver of a car that blocked Barley High Street after crashing yesterday (Thursday) has died.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were all called to the scene at around 3.40pm after the man, believed to be in his 60s, was taken ill behind the wheel of a black Jaguar.

Helimedics were also called to the scene and tried to resuscitate him but to no avail.

The body was taken to Lister Hospital, Stevenage, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

His family have been informed.
