THE 57-year-old man arrested and questioned in relation to the death of a three-year-old girl has been bailed.

He had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the fatal crash.

The incident is believed to have taken place at around 3.06pm on Sunday near the White Bear pub, Kneesworth Street.

It is alleged a red two-seater Mazda sports car collided with two children.

The first child, a three-year-old girl, later died in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, the other, a five-year-old girl, was uninjured.

The police helicopter assisted in the investigation and roads were also closed.

The man was questioned by police at Stevenage police station on Sunday night and then released on bail until July 19.
