Two arrested by Cambridgeshire police investigating bogus officer phone scam

Two people have been arrested in connection with a police officer phone scam which has been occurring across Crow country.
A 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man, both from Cambridge, have been arrested by Cambridgeshire police and are currently in custody.
Last week an alert was issued by the force after an 88-year-old woman in the county was conned out of £8,000.
It also follows four residents in Buntingford, Hertfordshire, being targeted on February 27 when they were asked for their bank details from people claiming to be police officers.
Potential victims are told that a criminal has been arrested with a substantial sum of money on them and a list of names and addresses, including theirs – and that their bank is under investigation for putting fraudulent bank notes in their account.
To report an incident in action always call 999, if it is after the event call Action Fraud on 0300 123040.
