A reduced Great Northern service is operating today – the first day of the new timetable – with trains being cancelled or revised.

Great Northern has tweeted to say this is due to an “operational incident”, with disruption expected until the end of day.

Yesterday there were also cancellations and delays due to a “shortage of of available train crew”.

Tickets are being accepted today with the following services – CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, Greater Anglia, London Underground, London Overground, Southern and Thameslink – via any reasonable route to help passengers reach their destination.

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Great Northern advises you keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim via the delay repay scheme here greatnorthernrail.com/landing_pages/greatnorthern.html.

This latest disruption comes on the first day of Great Northern’s new timetable, which sees the times of every train change – with many commuters unhappy with the alterations.
