Hobbit fans rejoiced today (Friday) as the second instalment of Peter Jackson’s trilogy opened in cinemas nationwide.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is director Jackson’s fifth visit to JRR Tolkien’s mythical Middle Earth.
The film stars Brookmans Park actor Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, the eponymous hobbit.
The movie also features Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Freeman’s ‘Sherlock’ co-star Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the ferocious fire drake Smaug.
Freeman relased a short YouTube video on Friday, in which he thanked fans for their support and added: “I hope you enjoy it.”
