Royston’s district girlguding members have enjoyed a session learning all about the importance of recycling.

The 5th Royston Rainbows and 4th Royston Brownie units were visited by waste awareness officer Lizzie Shepherd from North Herts District Council for the session, hailed as “a fun and informative evening of recycling activities and learning about composting”.

Brownies and Rainbows learned what can be put in each bin and what things to put on a worm’s menu for them to enjoy in the compost bin.

The new bin will be used at Royston Girlguiding headquarters in Garden Walk, where the compost generated will be used in the on site planters.

Rainbows – for girls aged five to seven – meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. And Brownies – for girls aged seven to 11 – meet Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. See girlguidinghertfordshire.org.uk to find out more.
