It has been a very busy run up to the festive season at Roysia Middle School in Royston.

B6 Berrellium. B6 Berrellium.

The Friends’ Christmas Fayre provided a cracking start to the festivities, all proceeds from the event go towards benefiting pupils.

Last week, class 8S visited The Old Barn day centre for senior citizens, accompanied by Mr Streeter,

A spokeswoman said: “They were a credit to themselves, their families and school as they delivered entertainment to it’s members.

Year 8’s Iona Berry has taken a trip to the House of Commons following an invitation from the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

The brief was to meet ministers and engineers and tell them all about her involvement in the First Lego League and how her team — B6 Berrillium — became the UK and Ireland LEGO Champion Team.

An unexpected ‘snow day’ on Monday last week meant preparation time for their Christmas Celebration, at Royston’s parish church, the next day was significantly reduced.

However, they were not going to allow a little bit of snow to get in the way of Roysia’s very first performance at the church.

The spokeswoman said: “After careful planning and team work, we all made it to the church on time and pulled off a moving performance to a packed congregation. Well done everyone!”

Key Stage 2 have been treated to a visit to Cambridge to see Jack and the Beanstalk and Key Stage 3 have been on their credit reward trip.

In other festive fun, Mrs Morton and her catering team served over 100 plates of Christmas dinner on Thursday last week, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The festivities continued the following day with staff and pupils wearing Christmas jumpers in support of Save the Children.

And to finish off the term, 18 school choir singers visited Mary Barfield House yesterday and performed Christmas carols, and today the school had a Christmas-themed house competition and celebration assembly.

The school spokeswoman said: “Seasons greetings to all members of the Roysia community and thank you for your support this term.

“We wish you all a happy and prosperous 2018.”
