Pub regulars chip in to help disabled youngsters

PUB regulars have raised more than £2,000 to fund equipment which will help disabled young people communicate.

Sue and Alan Tobin, landlords of the British Queen in Meldreth, have donated more than £2,700 to Meldreth and Orchard Manor Scope Schools.

The cash will be used to buy seven iPads, cases and iTune vouchers for the severely disabled children and young adults at the school.

The iPads enable the seven young people to access communication aids, view videos, use YouTube clips and, critically, enable the young people to maintain links with their friends and families who sometimes live far away.

The money was raised through two golf days, the latter of which included a raffle, meal and a sale of used paperback books in the pub.
