The Therfield residents, customers of the Fox and Duck pub in the village, took part in a charity fire walk on the village green on Sunday evening.

Landlord of the Fox and Duck, Ivan Titmuss, took part in the challenge.

He said: “We all walked five times over the hot embers at 1,000 degrees Celsius.

“The 13 locals helped raise a fabulous £2,237.00 for the Little Heroes Cancer Trust.”

Little Heroes supports children’s cancer wards across the country by purchasing toys and other items.

A charity barbecue was also held on Sunday in support of the trust.

Attendees also raised £140 for Wheels for Courtney – a fund to help Therfield resident Courtney Copeland, who suffers from spinal muscular dystrophy.

The money will be put towards purchasing an electric wheelchair for the five-year-old.
