A CHEQUE for £650 has been handed over to Royston's mayor Cllr Bill Prime for his charity. The money was raised by the Army Training Regiment at Bassingbourn at its annual fireworks night last November. Cllr Prime said: "This is very much appreciated and indicative of the strong, positive and mutually supporting relationship that exists between the local community and the Army unit." Lt Col Nick Richardson, commanding officer of the Army Training Regiment, said: "We're delighted to donate the money to the Mayor's fund as we know it will then be disbursed to a range of worthy causes and projects. "Fund-raising and supporting local organisations, charities and initiatives is an integral part of military life and helps cement good civil-military relationships." Cllr Prime is supporting the Frank Letts Blind Fellowship and the Royston and south Cambridgeshire Home-Start during his mayoral year.
