A HI-TECH mobile CCTV camera will be keeping watch over parts of the Borough of Broxbourne.

The council and Herts Police have teamed up to buy the new £8,000 “deployable overt CCTV system”.
It is hoped the camera will help in the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour.
It will be deployed to target areas which are experiencing problems with nuisance youths, or what the council dubbed ‘envirocrimes’, such as fly-tipping.
The Council will site the camera in Hoddesdon town centre at the end of August, before deploying the cameras in other areas across the Borough. The other identified locations with recurring problems with anti-social behaviour are: Chaucer Court, Hoddesdon, Cadmore Lane shops, Cheshunt, Goffs Oak shops around the Co-op store, Pound Close, Hoddesdon, V&E Club, Goffs Lane and Hammondstreet Road open space car park.
To support the initiative additional upgrading of the street lighting will also be taking place at a number of the yob hotspots at a cost of £10,000.
A council spokesman welcomed the move and said: “The camera is lightweight and can be installed on street lamp posts in various locations. It can be viewed and controlled remotely by either council officers or the Police, using mobile phone technology.”
