MINI lovers braved the weekend’s treacherous weather to enjoy a charity car show in Melbourn.

Hundreds of people passed through the gates from Friday to Sunday and £280 was raised for LUPUS UK, which fights Lupus -an incurable immune disorder.

Organiser Trevor Knowles said: “It was a bit disappointing with the grim weather - and it was pretty grim - but we still managed to raise over £280 for LUPUS UK.

“We had over 200 people through the gates on Sunday and 50 minis turn up. We had everything against us, it’s probably not wise to start a weekend event on Friday 13.”

The Cambridge Mini Club Lazy Weekend was held at the Eternit Social Club and revellers travelled from as far away as South London to enjoy live music, barbecues and a laid back atmosphere.

The poor weather has not put Mr Knowles off and he told the Crow he has already got the “ball rolling” for next year’s event.
