Man killed after being struck by train in Royston

A MAN has died after being struck by a train at a Royston crossing.

British Transport Police are currently working to identify him and inform his next of kin.

The incident took place just after 12.30pm at the Ivy Farm foot crossing and is currently not being seen as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that officers attended Ivy Farm foot crossing, Baldock road, Royston on Monday, 23 April following reports of a man being hit by a train.

“Paramedics from East of England Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are working to establish the identity of the man and inform his next of kin.

“A file will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Trains were halted after the 11.45 Kings Cross to Kings Lynn service hit the man.

The track was handed back to Network Rail at 1.28pm.
