Police apprehended a man outside Morrisons in Royston

A man has been issued with a penalty notice after stealing steak pies and a bottle of vodka from a Royston supermarket.

The 41-year-old man was apprehended by police at around midday on Tuesday outside the Morrisons store in Baldock Street, Royston, for attempting to steal £30 worth of pies and alcohol.

He was issued with a penalty notice for disorder, which will see him fined £80 and leave him with a criminal record.
