A 76-YEAR-old man with a record child sex offences may stay in prison for the rest of his life, said a judge.

Kenneth Tracy, of Or-well, admitted offences against a 12-year-old boy when he appeared at Cambridge Crown Court.

Judge Peter Rook QC jailed him for at least three years and six months.

Tracy had been convicted of child sex offences in the past.

Det Insp Darryl Preston said after the hearing: "Tracy has a long history of offending of a particular unpleasant nature which involved preying on young people."

His last conviction was in 1993 before the introduction of the Sex Offenders Register.

"Because he made a practice of moving from place to place, his unsavoury record was not known in this area," said Mr Preston.

He added: "I am certain that everyone will hope that Tracy will remain behind bars as long as the law of this land will permit."

The mother of the victim said: "I think it is disgusting that he could be out in about three-and-a-half years.

"If he is he will only do it again.
