A NINE-year-old girl from Bassingbourn is to have tea with the Queen. Lucy Vines, of Elbourn Way, is one of just 1,000 children from across the country chosen to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday at Buckingham Palace on June 25. Lucy's mum Mandy said: "It had been advertised on all the children's programmes that they were looking for children to celebrate the Queen's birthday at a tea party. Lucy applied and was just lucky enough to be chosen. She is so excited." Lucy, who attends St Mary's School in Royston, is allowed to take a friend and an adult with her, and has chosen to take her mum and seven-year-old brother Harry. "I think we're all going to be having new outfits," said Mandy. As well as The Queen, other members of the Royal family are also expected to attend along with characters from children's books. Mandy added: "I think we're going to make the most of it.
