An accountant is preparing to run his first marathon to raise money for a mental health charity.

Chris McInerney, who works as an accountant for the London Borough of Camden and lives in Walnut Tree Close, Bassingbourn, is running the 26.2 mile race to raise money for Mind, a mental health charity.

The 36-year-old said: “I was lucky enough to get into the marathon via the ballot. I didn’t think I’d get a place due to the demand for places so I entered thinking that I wouldn’t really have to run it.

“When I got the letter in October saying I had a place the size of the task started to dawn on me. I still wanted to use the opportunity to run for a charity so I spoke to Mind. I decided to run for them as I think that mental health is really misunderstood and can easily affect any one of us.”

Chris has managed to raise £902 so far. You can donate by visiting www.virginmoneygiving.com/chrismcinerney
