The Nicola Emmerson Trust Golf Day

A LOCAL charity has been getting busy raising funds with two events.

The Nicola Emmerson Trust held a charity golf day last Friday at Mill Green Golf Club near Welwyn, raising £505 in the process. Twenty-eight golfers took part.

Julie Emmerson, charity founder, said: “The amount we raised was brilliant. There were a lot of competitors, plenty of beer was consumed and there was good sunshine. It was an all round good day for the society.”

Meanwhile, on Thursday, four young swimmers from Buntingford raised £210 by swimming a mile each in less then 30 minutes at Ward Fremen School.

Mrs Emmerson said: “A while back I was asked by a friend’s son if he and a few mates could do a sponsored swim for our charity. I was there to support the boys and see them put in a great effort.”

The swimmers were James, Matthew and Louise Adams, Isaac Perry and Ollie Olney.

The Nicola Emmerson Trust was set up in 2007 when Nicola died while out celebrating her 20th Birthday. The charity supports young people at risk of sudden cardiac death.

They are looking for simmers to take part in a sponsored swim at Royston Leisure Centre on Sunday 8 May. For more information visit www.nicolaemmersontrust.co.uk or contact Julie Emmerson on 07533554195.
