Bargain hunters came from all around to check out the goods on offer at an equine-themed car boot sale in Litlington in aid of a Cambridgeshire animal charity.

Sarah Howard, who lives in the village, organised the event at the village hall in aid of the Shetland Pony Welfare Trust.

She said: “We had an amazing response and raised a whopping £563.86.”

The Shetland Pony Welfare Trust is a small registered charity based just outside of Cambridge, and was originally set up to rescue and rehabilitate the small ponies – but they now take all horses.

The charity – which is based just outside Cambridge – recieves no government funding and all staff are volunteers.

They are currently looking after 30 horses and ponies, and a further 20 have been fostered.
