A Meridian Sixth Form College student has made it through a rigorous selection process to earn himself an apprenticeship at one of the world’s biggest auditing firms.

After completing a three-month application and interview process, 18-year-old Isaac Iles was awarded the prestigious apprenticeship, at KPMG – much to the delight to his classmates, teachers and head of sixth form Clive Crisford.

Isaac said: “The help and support I received from Meridian Sixth Form College was essential. Mr Crisford helped prepare me throughout the process, explaining what I was likely to be asked to do, which I am sure gave me an advantage over the other applicants.”

As part of highly-competitive KPMG’s recruitment process Isaac – of Great Gransden in South Cambs – had to complete an online application, psychometric test and record an audio clip answering questions.

There were hundreds of candidates and having successfully making it through, Isaac was invited to KPMG’s assessment centre, where he was further challenged alongside those shortlisted.

“At the assessment centre we had to complete group exercises, followed by a written report, final interview and self-evaluation,” Isaac said.

“The whole day was really stressful as I was constantly being assessed, however, just over a week later I received confirmation that I had been successful.”

The apprenticeship is three years with a possibility to extend it to six years.

Mr Crisford added: “Isaac has been a star throughout his time at the college. This apprenticeship is just reward for all his dedication and hard work.”

“Speaking in university terms, getting into KPMG would be like getting into Cambridge or Oxford. He has done brilliantly.”
