There may be a light at the end of the tunnel for rail passengers, as Govia Thameslink has introduced an interim timetable and have news about when the original May timetable should be running smoothly.

North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald met with the passenger services director for Govia, Stuart Cheshire, on Tuesday.

Sir Oliver said: “I was told that Govia will be advertising an interim timetable on the various rail websites and all advertised services will run – barring unforseen circumstances. So, passengers should be able to have confidence that services shown will actually run each day. In addition, extra services will be introduced to the interim timetable as more drivers finish their route training.”

Mr Cheshire also assured Sir Oliver that by mid-July Govia should be in a position to operate the timetable which was expected from May 20.

Sir Oliver added: “I welcome, at least, a level of certainty that will allow passengers to plan their journeys. Further discussions about concerns over the May timetables are continuing.”
