Litter was left strewn down a quiet country road after a halloween rave attended by 300 people.
The rave took place at a barn on farmland off Fowlmere Road, near Heydon on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
On Monday debris was left strewn across the field, with rubbish piled up on the verges near the road.
Val Ailes, of Chrishall, witnessed the mess as she drove home on Monday.
She said: “We came upon what must be a mile of hideous discarded rubbish on both sides of the road – some in black bags - most not.
“These included hundreds of pumpkins, so must have been the residue from a giant party or ‘rave’ over the weekend.
“Who is responsible for leaving such a mess for someone else to clear up and what rights do they have to leave such a mess? Who – presumably Cambridgeshire County Council – will do it, how and when?”
Much of the rubbish had been cleared by Tuesday afternoon, though some remained in the surrounding fields. The barn itself was daubed with grafitti, and the doors had been left hanging off their hinges.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed they had been called to the site in the early hours of Sunday.
A force spokesman said: “We were called out to reports of 300 cars seen at a disused barn. We monitored the situation and are carrying out enquiries.”
Fowlmere Road remained closed throughout Sunday while officers investigated the scene, limiting access to the nearby Heydon Grange golf club.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Cambridge Police on the non-emergency number 101.
