The wait was finally over as proud students from Freman College in Buntingford collected their GCSE results today (Thursday).

Some 70 per cent of students achieved five or more A*-C grades.

Head teacher Helen Loughran said: "The students have worked hard to achieve these results and they really deserve this success."

At Bassingbourn Village College, 100 per cent of students got at least one pass with 68 per cent achieving five or more A*-C grades.

In addition 23 Year 10 students took GCSE mathematics a year early with all students achieving an A*-C grade.

Principal Scott Hudson said: "We are delighted with individual performances across the whole ability range."

At The Meridian School in Royston, 56 per cent of the students achieving five A*-C grades.

Head of year, Brian Archbold, said: "Results are very pleasing and the students really deserve their grades."

Praise was also given at Melbourn Village College as warden Ron Berry said that improvement on last year's results has left the school feeling proud. Some 65 per cent of students came out with five A*-C grades, with eight youngsters gaining between 10 and 14 A* and A grades.
