MORE than 30,000 visitors descended on Duxford at the weekend to see some of the country’s best pilots dazzle in iconic aircraft.

The Imperial War Museum Duxford’s show was held on Saturday and Sunday and saw acrobatic displays, vintage planes and fast jets.

Esther Blaine, head of public relations at the museum, said: “It was a fantastic weekend, the weather could not have been better and we flew on both days.

“There was something for everyone with fast jets, acrobatics and historic aircraft.

“The wind gave some challenges on Sunday and the programme had to be changed about but it was a brilliant day.”

Roughly 33,800 people attended the event - the second highest attendance for a September airshow in 15 years.

The Red Arrow display Team, a Vulcan Bomber and a B-17 bomber were among the may aircraft that took to the sky.

As well as aerial displays there was plenty to do on the ground with historical re-enactment groups and historical displays.
