THE Queen’s Jubilee was saluted by iconic aircraft at an airshow on Sunday.

Over 17,000 people attended The Jubilee Air Show at IWM Duxford to bask in the glorious weather and watch stunning aerial displays.

The airborne festivities kicked off at 2pm with the powerful Eurofighter Typhoon from 6 Squadron, RAF Leuchars.

Followed by the iconic B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B and two North American Harvards - the type of aircraft that Prince Philip flew.

Other aircraft with royal links appeared throughout the day including the plane Prince Charles learnt to fly and a Westland Sea King helicopter.

This is the type of aircraft that has been flown by Prince Andrew and that Prince William is currently piloting as a fully-operational Search and Rescue co-pilot with 22 Squadron, RAF Valley, Anglesey.

WWII aircraft also took to the skies with a Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane and Avro Lancaster impressing the crowds.

Various other planes flew also flew but there was more on offer to visitors than aerial displays as they could explore the museum, make Airfix models, handle historical objects, and ride tanks.
