The 2014 Royston May Fayre has been declared the ‘best ever’ by the town’s mayor.
Held in the Priory Memorial Gardens on Bank Holiday Monday, the event attracted families from Royston and beyond who enjoyed rides, shows and attractions.
A classic car show, organised by the Rotary Club of Royston, was also held in the town hall car park to coincide with the main fayre.
Royston mayor Cllr Bob Smith said: “I think it was the best ever in terms of the number of people visiting and quality of attractions.
“There was so much going on, and I think the classic car show attracted a record number of entrants.”
Young visitors could have a go on the bungee trampolines, climbing wall, and miniature railway, while there was displays of dancing and Korean martial arts.
Many community groups and charities were also represented, with Royston Town Band and Opus 17 Swing Band providing live music.
Cllr Smith said: “I would have liked to have had a go on the bungee trampoline, but sadly I came in at just over the 12-stone weight limit!
“It was also nice to see the Punch and Judy stall there, I always used to enjoy that as a child. Overall I think it was an excellent day for the town.”
