THOUSANDS of bikers got into gear for a fundraising rally in Meldreth last week.
The 27th Royston & District Motorcycle Club Charity Show was held at the Meldreth Manor School, and raised over £12,000 for the Scope school, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and SERV Blood Runners.
More than 2,500 people turned up to the event and in excess of 2,000 bikes were on show.
Mark Coningsby, press officer for the club, said: “It was absolutely fantastic.
“We didn’t have as many people as in 2010 when it was especially warm but we had more bikers turn up.
“They say in times of economic uncertainty people turn to motorcycles and we definitely had more bikes there.”
It was the 27th show the club has held and over 25 traders set up shop including Absolute Rider Training from Royston, Camrider of Cambridge, BMW Of Sawbridgeworth, Ducati of Bedford, Hideout Leathers and Harley Davidson.
