Frightened of flying? Luton Airport course could help you keep calm and take to the skies

If you find flying a white-knuckle experience and you want to tackle your fears, help is at hand just around the corner.
Booming budget airline easyJet organises Fearless Flyer courses to help people come to terms with their anxiety, with one session planned at Luton in February.
The carrier’s two-day courses take place throughout the UK and are suitable for anyone with a fear of flying, whether they experience general anxiety or an extreme phobia, and this year the firm expects to help around 1,000 nervous potential passengers overcome their fears.
During the first day of the course a variety of proven mind techniques are explained by top phobia expert Lawrence Leyton. Attendees also learn about the sounds and sensations experienced when flying on an aircraft from a senior easyJet captain who also dispels common flying myths.
The following day there’s a one hour dedicated easyJet experience flight where people can put the knowledge and techniques they learned the day before to the test while listening to a live commentary of the flight from the Fearless Flyer team.
The course costs £189 a person, and a companion can be booked to support people on the flight itself for £69. Spaces on all of the courses can be booked at www.fearlessflyer.easyjet.com.
EasyJet’s commercial director Peter Duffy said: “We’re really pleased to be announcing a new set of Fearless Flyer course dates. It is a great opportunity for those planning their new year resolutions to sign up and conquer their fears.
“We’ve already helped thousands of people to overcome their fear of flying and we’re looking forward to helping even more next year.”
Course director Mark Wein added: “More than 95 per cent of people who take part in our course successfully take to the skies and we receive emails from many of our past participants who have since travelled the world. It’s a life-changing course and the most common thing we hear from our fearless flyers is that they wish they had taken the course sooner.
“We’ve helped a variety of people – from those who have never flown before to those who think of every excuse under the sun not to fly. No matter the reason behind the fear we’re confident we can help.”
The course dates for Luton are Saturday and Sunday, February 27 and 28.
