The boss of a Fowlmere-based science firm has confirmed they are on-track to move to their new state-of-the-art plant next year, which is also in the village.
Ion Science is a leading manufacturer of high performance gas detection instrumentation and sensors for global occupational health and environmental monitoring applications.
As well as having offices in America, Germany and Italy, the new plant in Butts Close is down the road from their current head office in The Way, Fowlmere.
Construction is well underway for the purpose-built facility – the result of a £4.5 million investment – with external walls completed and work about to start on the roof.
Managing director Duncan Johns said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm that we are on target to move into our much larger, highly specified head office and plant in May 2017.
“We are hugely grateful to the project management company, contractors and Ion Science staff for their support and assistance in meeting critical deadlines.”
The space and flexible design of the new building also allows for future expansion and here will be no change of commute over the existing location for employees.
“With record sales over the past three months and an annual growth rate of 30 per cent, we have more than outgrown our current facility which can no longer accommodate our needs.” Mr Johns added.
“The design, manufacturing, sales and administrative capabilities we will be able to access at the new building will allow Ion Science to progress to the next stage of its development.”
