Developers have pledged to hold a second exhibition on plans for a solar farm in Crow country.

The scheme, planned for Bury Lane Farm near Meldreth, was the subject of a public exhibition held two weeks ago.

However, local councillors criticised the lack of publicity surrounding the consultation exercise.

But speaking this week, Jeremy Clayton, from EW Pepper, developers of the voltaic farm, said they have offered to put on a second exhibition in Melbourn.

Mr Clayton said: “We were very sorry to hear some people were unaware the exhibition was taking place and we have offered to hold a public meeting in Melbourn in January. We have also created a link so that people can view the exhibition boards online.

“The November exhibition was advertised in two editions of the Crow (November 14 and 21) and on their website. Additionally, a copy of the advertisement was sent to the parish councils in advance. Information will also be provided for use in the parish council magazines.”

Parish councillors from Meldreth, and the ward’s county councillor Susan van de Ven, said last week they had had little contact from the firm.

“We feel strongly this is a good, low impact scheme and those who did attend the exhibition gave positive feedback and also raised points which we were happy to address,” said Mr Clayton.

“These included additional site security and the creation of a wildlife habitat, both of which have now been incorporated into the plans which we will shortly be submitting to South Cambridgeshire District Council. People will then have the opportunity to comment further when the consultation period opens which we expect to be in the new year.

“We would be delighted to hear from anyone who did not attend the event but would like to know more, we would be happy to explain the scheme in more detail and help in any way we can.
