The results for Hatfield’s divisions in the Herts County Council elections yesterday are in.

For the town’s four divisions, Susie Gordon and Stephen Boulton were elected for the Conservatives, along with Margaret Eames-Petersen for Labour and Lib Dem Paul Zukowskyj.

Hertfordshire County Council receives about three-quarters of council tax, with an £815million current year budget that dwarfs the finances of Welwyn Hatfield Council and its neighbouring authorities.

Before yesterday’s vote County Hall was made up of 46 Conservatives, 14 Labour members and 16 Lib Dems, with a vacant seat in Stevenage.

The latest election will increase the total of county councillors from 77 to 78, as there will be a new division - Hatfield East.

Hertfordshire County Council has control over numerous crucial services, including schools, social services, libraries, most road maintenance, and waste disposal.
