Alfie Boe has also announced his participation in this year’s Forestry Commission Live Music events.

The classically trained tenor has become well established as one of the country’s most popular artists with acclaimed, sell-out, live concerts and 2 Top Ten, ‘platinum’ selling albums in the last twelve months. Theatre-goers have witnessed sensational performances in shows such as ‘Les Misérables’ in the West End and ‘La Bohème’ on Broadway; and with albums like ‘Alfie’ and ‘Bring Him Home’, Alfie Boe’s interpretation of the most revered and timeless songs has ensured an ever-growing fan base.

Alfie’s forest debut will see him performing from his current albums as well as from classical and proms repertoire.

Commenting on the shows, Alfie said: “I am delighted to be asked to appear at Westonbirt Arboretum and Thetford Forest as part of Forestry Commission Live Music. It is going to be a real privilege to perform at such prestigious outdoor venues with beautiful trees as backdrops”. Alfie Boe plus Orchestra and special guest Laura Wright, will be performing on Friday July 13, Thetford Forest, near Brandon, Suffolk.

Tickets £35.50 (subject to booking fee) are available from the Forestry Commission box office tel 03000 680400 or buy online at www.forestry.gov.uk/music

Finally Top American rock band, Black Stone Cherry have been announced as special guests of The Darkness at their homecoming concert as part of Forestry Commission Live Music this summer.

Flying the flag for hard, southern rock, Kentucky’s Black Stone Cherry are regulars in the US and UK rock charts. The band’s third album ‘Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’ scored them their second No 1 album in the UK Rock charts where it has remained for over 40 weeks.

Packed with soaring, Southern-fried rock the album is a blistering set of intoxicating anthems, much like a modern version of their heroes Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The band are renowned for extensive touring and the whole of Black Stone Cherry’s UK Spring 2012 tour, which included a date at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, sold out without a single ticket to be had.

Local heroes, The Darkness exploded into the public consciousness for both their unique brand of glammed-up rock and outrageous stage costumes when their debut album ‘Permission to Land’ shot to number one, spawning new rock anthems including ‘Love is only a Feeling’, ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ and ‘Growing on Me’. The band - brothers Justin and Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Ed Graham - have recently released the single ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us’ from their forthcoming third album, and have been confirmed as main support for the European dates of Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way Ball’ tour.

The Darkness plus special guests Black Stone Cherry will be performing: Saturday July 14, Thetford Forest, nr Brandon, Suffolk.

Tickets £36.00 (subject to booking fee) are available from Forestry Commission box office telephone 03000 680400 or buy online at www.forestry.gov.uk/music
