MOTORISTS had a lucky escape on Saturday night when a car travelled the wrong way down the A505.

The unknown vehicle was spotted at around 5pm on Saturday travelling towards Royston on the Baldock-bound carriageway of the A505, near to the Ashwell turnings. It narrowly missed several cars travelling in the opposite direction.

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police said they had received three reports about the vehicle, but that officers dispatched to the scene could not locate it.
