Budding experts bid for award

DESPITE the current hose-pipe ban, the Royston in Bloom committee is hoping the town will blossom again this year.

Last year Royston gained a silver award in the Anglia in Bloom competition.

To start this year's competition, the committee in running a Blooms Night at Royston Town Hall on Thursday, April 27, at 7.30pm.

The speaker will be Margaret Lynch, who will be talking on How to Cheat in Your Garden.

The evening is being sponsored by Country Homes and Gardens of Melbourn.

During the evening the committee will outline its plans for the year.

The Royston in Bloom competition this year will have an emphasis on drought gardens.

And there will also be a sunflower competition for schools.
