TELEVISION gardening celebrity Alan Titchmarsh will be hosting the BBC National Village Show at Wimpole Hall on Sunday.

Mr Titchmarsh will explore the world of the village show along with celebrity chef James Martin.

The series is looking for the character and the atmosphere of village life as it revolves around the annual show.

The duo will be judging home-baked cakes and handicrafts, and looking for gardeners growing the biggest vegetables in the hope of winning Best in Show.

There are six heats around the country with the last event taking place at Prince Charles' Highgrove Estate on October 2, where the show champions in each category from the series will be announced.
